Dr. Lisa Barker is chief medical director at the Jump Trading Simulation & Education Center and clinical associate professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria.
Dr. Barker chairs the Jump Value Analysis Model (VAM) Committee, a multi-disciplinary group of health care system professionals with representation from Finance, Healthcare Analytics, Performance Improvement and Education in addition to Jump. This committee has implemented a framework for demonstrating the value of key simulation-based programs to the system, including tangible return on investment (ROI).
Dr. Barker is the former co-chair of the Jump Educational Programs Committee. In that role, she created a project rating matrix to objectively characterize areas of excellence and opportunity in simulation-based educational proposals. It is also used to provide feedback and promote the development of simulation educators.
Dr. Barker is an emergency physician by training and directed the simulation program for the UICOMP Emergency Medicine Residency for 10 years prior to her leadership roles at Jump. She has also served as faculty for multiple regional, national and international conferences, including the International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare and the Society in Europe for Simulation Applied to Medicine.
